Media codecs and formats

For a client I have developed a VOD application for HbbTV. Now I would like to rewrite it for the Smart TV Alliance platform. Can I expect that the Alliance would support all video codecs, audio codecs and streaming formats for broadband VoD content as defined for HbbTV?
If not: Is there a checklist regarding media formats that I could give to the video content provider?

Hi,

Thanks for your question. STA supports all the media formats and streaming protocols from HbbTV, except for E-AC3 audio (although this may be supported on some TVs). STA also supports extra streaming formats: HLS and Smooth Streaming. Full details can be found in the STA specification, see section 3.4. You can download it here: \"https://sdk.smarttv-alliance.org/download.php?file=SmartTVAlliancev3.0specification.pdf\"
I hope this helps.
